Before making a decision to move to Singapore, it is important to keep up with the latest news on the travel restrictions to help you better plan your relocation.

Travel Restriction Updates – COVID-19

UPDATE: From 10 August 2020, Singapore and Malaysia are working towards the targeted implementation of the Reciprocal Green Lane and Periodic Commuting Arrangement to enable cross-border travel for essential business and official purposes between both countries.

Here’s what you need to know about the travel restrictions in Singapore.

Entering Singapore Borders

  • All short-term visitors and travellers are not allowed entry to Singapore.  
  • This excludes returning Singapore residents (including Singapore Citizen, Permanent Residents and Long-Term Pass Holders).
  • Upon entry, travellers have to serve a mandatory 14 day self-isolation at dedicated Stay-Home-Notice facilities. 
  • This excludes visitors with SafeTravel Pass or visitors with approval letter of entry from relevant agency in Singapore.
  • All Long-Term Pass Holders (including Work Pass, Student’s Pass, Dependent’s Pass, and Long-Term Visit Pass) must produce a valid approval letter from the MOM or ICA to be allowed entry. 
  • As of 2 June 2020, travellers are allowed to transit through Singapore’s Changi Airport.
  • As of 18 June 2020, inbound travellers who have been in Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, mainland China, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam may serve their SHN at home subjected to compulsory covid-19 test.

SafeTravel Pass under “Green/Fast Lane”

Travellers from countries under the Fast Lane arrangements must possess a valid SafeTravel Pass to travel to Singapore.

  • From 8 June 2020, only business or official travellers sponsored by a Singapore Government agency may submit applications to use the Singapore-China Fast Lane.
  • Travellers must meet the terms & conditions of the SafeTravel Pass and other entry requirements before they are granted entry to Singapore.

Notice to Visitors already in Singapore

  • All visitors may apply online at least 7 days prior to the expiry of the visit pass to avoid overstaying, if there is a need to extend your stay in Singapore.
  • Application for extension of stay will not be accepted over the counter.

Leaving Singapore Borders

  • All Singapore Residents are urged to defer all non-essential travel. 
  • Any Singapore resident or Long-Term Pass holder who leaves Singapore from 27 March 2020, will be charged at unsubsidised rates for their inpatient stay at public hospitals, if they are admitted for suspected COVID-19 and have onset of symptoms within 14 days of returning to Singapore.

Implementation Of Reciprocal Green Lane For Cross Border Travel Between Malaysia And Singapore

  • From 10 August 2020, Singapore and Malaysia are working towards the targeted implementation of the Reciprocal Green Lane (RGL) and Periodic Commuting Arrangement (PCA) to enable cross-border travel for essential business and official purposes between both countries.

  • ICA will not accept walk-ins for such services.
